Dali is fantastic, but this museum is small for the price. I wasn't a fan of the tour - things he said conflicted with the audio guide and he didn't take questions very seriously (or just didn't know much outside the script). Collection was interesting. Wasn't a huge fan of the fashion special exhibit. The virtual reality was a fun and innovative take for an art museum. Used a coupon for $2 off and parked on the street to save another $7ish.
Amazing museum! Great cafe downstairs with beautiful food, both in appearance and flavor. Huge selection of the finest Dali works, well organized and presented. I had a very upbeat and lovely tour guide who helped me understand what I was looking at. I'll hopefully come back soon!
Some good points are: A Theater and a second gallery, which really makes a difference for visiting artwork. There seems to be a lot more engagement in the community, which is always good and YES, the Cafe is great and the outside grounds are very interesting for art lovers, hipsters and kids.
If you want a Full-Dali-Experience: Saturday or Sunday is your day.
Truly amazing. I loved the tours they give and the option of headsets they offer as well in case you want to go off on your own. There's so many great things to see here! I will say to go while they have a special collection going because it'll be so much better. I definitely recommend going if you live in the TB area. Tip, we also parked across the street in the park to save some money on parking.
Ya know....Call me an old softy but I STILL miss the old place. This new location makes looking at the Large Artwork, almost impossible. The building and space itself is large and I understand the dynamics of WHY and HOW they moved...BUT...I don't like the set-up inside. Again, the artwork is on top of each other and if you go on a crowded day...good luck being able to see over the crowd and / or the tour. The old place had a lot more room on the inside to sit and enjoy the art. This new place traded all of that in for the sake of an over priced cafe (even though the food is out of this world) and a larger gift shop. The stairway (as wonderful as it may look) is very impractical and way too narrow...and also spirals! If you are older or on any "medication" you may wanna take the slow elevators.
This museum is pricey ($24/adult) but well worth the cost. The museum houses some of his most well-known pieces spanning all periods of his life. The photography exhibit gives you a snapshot of his daily life and adds great context to his art. I would recommend getting the free audio headset. It provides first-hand accounts and analysis of his paintings.
All in all....if you JUST love Dali's work: Go on a slow day
