I love coming to this Gallery every time I'm in downtown to see what's new. They have a wide range of items in prices for any budget! I've bought jewelry and house decor as gifts here and the quality was excellent.
And Vaun give me a break – If you feel profiled because a sales associate asked to free your hands go into any clothing or any retail establishment and tell me what happens. And please for my sake go talk to people who are actually profiled every day to see exactly what it's like
I guess what I am trying to say, to the two young owners, if you happen to see this... I appreciated that you took the time to discuss the review you received, just know you will never make everyone happy. You have a great store filled with breathtaking items. Keep doing what you are doing and don't let the negative weigh you down too much.
Picked up some wedding gifts here. Much of their stuff is a little more expensive than I would expect (not much) but there is certainly something you can find for any price range or taste.
While shopping today I had my hands full of little ornaments and things, one of the workers came over and asked if they could hold my items, I didn't take offense to it... instead I found it to be helpful and attentive. On top of that by the time I got up to the register to pay, they had everything wrapped up and boxed for me so there was not extra waiting time. This is a gallery filled with beautiful things that are screaming to be touched and appreciated. If your hands are full, even holding something tiny, it would be impossible to fully enjoy the gallery.
After a fine dinner celebrating my 43rd wedding anniversary; we popped into this store to browse. I am 100% feeling what David Scanlan stated in his review. Violet (Matt would not provide me her name; but it slipped out during my conversation regarding this uncomfortable situation) followed me around; took an impending purchase from my hands to "hold for me" then continued to shuffle around the store with her eyes on me like I was a shoplifter. Don't take kindly to this type of "service" as I will ask if I want someone to hold on to an impending purchase or ask if I can leave at their counter. When I pulled out a $100 bill to pay for my purchase they couldn't have been nicer - profiling at this store left me so uncomfortable, I doubt I'll visit again.
I have been shopping at SHAPIRO'S for over 15 years. I have purchased all of my holiday gifts here for the past 9 years. I was in this holiday season and purchased a gorgeous jewelry box for my wife. It was nice seeing the friendly vibrant staff. From time to time I would have my hands full and they would nicely come over and ask me to hold the items behind the counter from them. I have read previous reviews left on this page and I encourage you to shop here and enjoy the gallery instead of basing it off what a few miserable individuals think.
I don't typically write reviews of places but I felt compelled to do so in this situation. I was at SHAPIRO'S today and overheard two people (by the way they were talking I would assume they were owners) discussing a negative review they had just received. They seemed upset about it and then started brainstorming what could have gone wrong that caused the bad review and ways they could change it so it didn't happen again. I thought little about it, and continued my shopping. Bought several fantastic things and went on my way. When I got home I started thinking about what I overheard and came on to read the review.
