Pricey for what you get to see. I had been before I ask if there were any new pieces and was told yes. There was nothing new to see. It was nice to see the first time the glass prices are unique. We paid one student price and 2 adults cost was 50.00 plus.
I was visiting from Ohio. I heard great things about it and stopped in and browsed the gift shop but didn't want to pay $20 to tour, especially on a nice day outside. You can see some neat stuff in the gift shop though. I think $20+ on a Sunday is pretty pricey, so that's why I docked a star.
The gallery was neat. A lot of glass sculptures displayed. Probably would have been a lot cooler if we would have gone to watch the glass blowing. The video that is shown is way too long. Started watching in the middle and left before the end. Not sure why they were showing what they were showing and didn't want to wait an hour to find out. Over all a good experience but wouldn't go back.
The blown glass exhibit is amazing. The video detailing the blown glass would be better if shorter and oriented at the beginning of the exhibit so that one can gain an appreciation for the art prior to viewing it, rather than showing it at the end of the exhibit. Additionally, the blown glass demonstration was neat, but it would have been a lot more helpful and interesting if the people blowing the glass explained each step and why they were doing what they were doing. They were pretty much silent, and we just watched. I would not pay $20 again to see it again--that's a pretty steep price for seeing a small collection and a strict observation of glass blowing without any narration; but it is worth going at least once, as the art is very impressive.
Absolutely fantastic. Movie terrific. A great visit. New building perfectly located.
