I have been attending Burchard Gallery auctions for several years now. I buy for myself and I am not a dealer. I thoroughly enjoy each auction. The entire staff is superb especially Chris at the front desk. I usually come to the auction with my sight on one to many items.

Burchard have some high quality and diverse antiques and objects of value, you can be confident that you are getting the real deal. However their price estimates at auction are usually woefully under. Now of course, in part an auction depends on who "turns up on the day" but for these guys to get is so wrong, by so much, and so often, means they are either low-balling to get bidders on the hook, or are terrible at doing valuations. Either way, as a buyer, this can result in a lot of wasted time when objects sell for 50 or 100% more than the estimate.

Purchased 4 cloisonne vases for over $500. Called auction house for a "condition report" and they sent an email confirming all 4 vases (with one minor exception) were in excellent condition, free of concerns. When they arrived, all 4 had easily detectable damage. WE SPEND REAL MONEY, DO REAL CONDITION REPORTS. You are a disgrace to honest auction houses.
