I used to love that I could go to ace and get great customer service. The employees knew what they were doing and were friendly. Not the case anyone! You have to beg for help and then they don't know where anything is. I can get better service at home depot and that's saying something. Very sad day for the small hardware stores...
Ace local St.petersburg hardware store is friendly staff and convenient. Carries all your supplies and more with great prices.
It's uncomfortably crowded to move around and I had a very bizarre experience with one of the staff members. They told me my neighborhood was dangerous and that two murders occurred on my street and asked if they "ever caught the arsonist." These things all happened years ago, and maybe they were just trying to make conversation with me, but it was uncomfortable as hell with other people in earshot of this information. I was just signing up for a rewards card. Just a very uncomfortable experience to say the least. Everyone in the line immediately turned their attention to me and I was made to feel extremely singled out in that moment. I really don't think I'll be returning, I was too embarrassed by this employee.The other staff memeber who helped me was polite (he was in the paint section).
Apparently Under New Management since last time I was there, used to be a good store, charge way too much, greedy! Back to home Depot as much as I hate to say.. I even had to ask for a manager because employees couldn't get it together, then he stands there and smiles at me while being a complete jerk, there not there to help, its them versus you if u have a problem, all the while saying that the owner tells him to do it... they where charging literally 20 times more than what the item that I needed costs.. unbelievable! I used to tell people to go there, multiple people per week (I get asked often). Not anymore..
Always better to run to Ace than one of the big box stores. Not to sound sexist, but the guys are usually more helpful and friendly than the gals who work here. Cashier's seem to always get easily flustered, but still better than a big box store.
