Great service, friendly people with a laid back feel to the shop.
I had a very good experience with Ken. I wanted something for my wife and I to do together so I started looking for a tandem. I brought my wife with me to North East Cycles and we were shown a nice co-motion tandem. My wife was less than enthusiastic but agreed to give it a try. Ken offered some very good advice about riding tandems but he could tell also tell there was still some hesitation on my wife's part. I asked Ken about his return policy, and he kindly offered us 30 days. I don't know if that is standard but I really appreciate how he was able to read us and tailor his services to suit.
Really interesting store with a huge variety of bikes and parts. I love that they have new stuff and used, contemporary and vintage. I can't speak to the prices or service, but as a bike lover I was elated to browse their fascinating selection. Chill guys, too; we talked about vintage bikes for a while.
I took my BMX here to get a new chain, and it wasn't put on correctly. It jumps off the gears and makes a loud noise like a nail gun every time I pedal. I'm going to take my bike to the competition practically next door and get someone who knows what they are doing to put a new chain on my bike. If they can't even correctly put a chain on a single gear bike, I can't image taking a mountain bike or road bike here either.
I am very sorry to say that my wife did not enjoy the riding experience as I had hoped (tried riding it several times), so sadly I had to return the bike. Let's be honest, no shop likes to see a sale come back in the door for a refund but I have to say Ken is a man of his word and was very pleasant about it. He's been around for 24 years. I would recommend this shop to others.
YO this place is the best. They got my shimano shifting like a formula one. Nice selection of new and vintage bike stuff
